Tuesday December 28

Ryan and I got out to the field just to see if he still knew how to fly. He still has it. He said he missed the smell of nitro burning in the morning. We both put up two flights. Below are a few photos.

Sunday Nov. 28

A few of us stumbled upon one another at the park. Here are a few photos from my iphone. It was a little windy at first, but the wind died down off and it was some great flying. A little more sun then I would like but at least the lite wind was not making us stunt into the sun.

Hope everyone is building something this winter.

Fall Fun Fly 2010

Well if you did not make it out to the Fall Fun Fly you missed it. I think I counted 9 or 10 people and about 14 planes on the ground that showed up out at the Millington BarnStormers field and we made a day of it. The weather was great, the food was good and I think we had a plane in the air at all times. (And once we even had two Bi-Slobs up at the same time! That was a kick in the pants) If you ever had one of those days when you were having so much fun that you did not want the day to end, this was one of those days. The Millington BarnStormers control line field is in great shape, and not a bad drive now that 385 is almost finished.

If you missed it, here are some pictures for you viewing pleasure.

Zuriel and Lou goes to Paducah

Zuriel sent me some photos from the Paducah contest that is going on this weekend. 8-14/15. If I get more photos I will put them up, so check back.

Spring Fling 2010

Well we had a very large turn out for our Spring Fling 2010! Jackie was the first one the first to arrive. One by one folks showed up until I think I we had over 25 guys and gals on the field. I wish we would have got a group shot, maybe next time. A big thanks to Craig for cooking up all the steaks and ribs! Everything tasted great and the cookies that Angeline Treace ( Jim’s better half) brought took care of desert. A big shout out to the kitchen crew! No one should have went away hungry.  And oh yea there were lots of flights put up. We had two circles going. Looking forward to the video that Craig will put up on Youtube in a few days. I will try and embed the links here.  Thanks again for everyone that showed up!  I hope we can do it again soon. Below are some of the photos from the day. I wish I would have taken more photos.

April 11 2010

A few of us met up at the field after lunch. Jackie, Arlan, Willie and myself all put up flights. Kenny showed up for support. It was a fun afternoon. Below are some photos from the day.

MLK Day

Well it was such a nice day this past Monday. We took advantage of the day off and the nice weather. I talked my youngest son into going to the park and launching my Tutor II. No pictures, but it was great to get out and dust off the planes and brush the cobwebs from my head. Ahhh the sweet smell of burning castor oil.

If I had to to place a bet on if anyone would have been there, I would have lost money. Everyone must be busy building new planes.

South Arkansas Controline Stunt Championships

Zuriel Armstrong and Louis Rankin went to the South Arkansas Controline Stunt Championships and did well. Most of all they had a mess of fun!!! Lou flew his Geo Jr. and Zuriel took control of Louis's Profile Bear. Zuriel said it is one of the best flying profiles he has every flown.
See the photos below.

Old friends reunited after several years.

Eric, Kreth and Arlan use to fly R/C several years ago. If I remember correctly, Eric told me the last time he saw Arlan and Kreth, Arlan was around 16 years old. Not sure how old Arlan is but I think a lot of time has passed. Any way the short version of this story is that Eric, Kreth and I met at the field today. A old friendship has been renewed. We all got to burn a little fuel, and Eric and Kreth got to catch up a little. Kreth will be back in a few weeks and maybe more memories will be brought up at the field.  Below are a few photos. First is Eric's fleet, Second is Eric is taking inventory of his props, (there is a story there) third is Eric flying his ShoeString, Forth and fifth photo is Kreth and his Lime Green scratch built, engine test bed plane - a Flite Streak.

Pictures from the Fall Fun Fly

Kelly Wilson in Dallas

Kelly Wilson went to Dallas for the Carrier contest and did not do to bad. Here is a email note I got from him.

It was wet and rainy all weekend. Saturday was Speed classes. On Sunday they finished the previous weeks Stunt contest that got rained out before they started the Carrier events . It put us really late getting started. I only had time to put in one qualifying flight on each plane. I got a first place in 15 carrier and 2nd place in Profile Carrier. On Saturday I got 1st  place in 1/2A Proto and 21 Sport class, but I was the only entry so all I had to do was put in a qualifying flight on each plane. The whole thing was poorly attended. I suspect it was due to the bad weather.

I built the 21 sport plane in two days and had never flown it before my 1st flight. It was a pleasant surprise. It leveled off at about 5’ and flew like it was on rails. I didn’t have any speed props, so I cut down an 8x6 but couldn’t really get any rpm with it. I had fun and learned a lot.
Kelly
Way to go Kelly.

Just by chance....

Well the wind had been blowing all day. By late afternoon the wind just died. I packed up my stuff and called Arlan. The plan was to meet up and put up a few flights. When we got there Marco's Chris and Darren were already there (along with Darren's better half, she took the photo). What luck!
Arlan and I both had our Tutors. Chris had a Score, and Darren had a new PT-19. Marcos needs some bigger wheels on his Mustang. Maybe we can all take up a donation at the Fall Fun Fly for bigger wheels for Marcos? LOL
What a fun way to end the day.
